Who I am?...

Ruben Giménez Viera

I am a Uruguayan photographer, born in Montevideo.
With studies in the University of Work, and trained in the National School of Fine Arts. I have given teaching workshops for the Ministry of Education and Culture and also in private.
I have done several projects of Investigation, one of them in the town Empalme Olmos, of the department of Canelones, Uruguay. (Http://identidadempalmeolmos.blogspot.com.uy/).
My photographs have been published on covers of music discs, books, catalogs, almanacs, etc.
In the year 2016 a book of my authorship comes out,
URUGUAY PHOTOGRAPHY, printed in the United States. I have also held several exhibitions, individually and collectively.
I have worked for various media, I have also worked for the Presidency of the Republic of Uruguay, from 1990 to 1995. I have obtained recognition in various photography competitions in several countries. In 2017 one of my photographs was selected from more than 2000 photos taken by photographers from Latin American countries, in one of the most important competitions in Brazil, for an itinerant exhibition that will travel in many countries. (12th New Holland Photojournalism Award).
I have more than 30 years in the profession of photographer, currently working as a freelancer, taking photographs of the press, events, theater, etc.

I believe that in these years I have taken more than 1,500,000 photographs (one million five hundred thousand ... !!).
